چکیده

The analysis of grease-lubricaled rolling element bearings i s presented. Exferimen tally determined flow curaes for grease are found to be well correlated by the Herschel-Bdkley model flow eqzration. A theory for predicting roller Jilm thickness based on the assumed flow model i s derived. Experimental results show that grease will deveIop a larger film lhickness lhan the grease base oil at jirst, but the film llzickness falls during rolling until i t reaches a steady thickvess usually lower than that of its base oil. This effect i s shown lo depend on the degree of shear degradation of flze grease, its

Elastohydrodynamic Grease Lubrication Theory and Numerical Solution in Line Contacts

In this paper, film thickness and pressure distribution of EHL in line contacts for four kinds of greases and one type of oil are calculated under a series of rolling velocities by wing an inverse solution method. The Herschel-Bulkley model is wed for the rheological characteristics of the grease. Based on the theoretical analysis and numerical calculation, the following influences on film thic...

AXIAL FLOW IN A ROTATIONAL COAXIAL RHEOMETER SYSTEM 11: HERSCHEL BULKLEY MODEL

Following recent works of several authors like Huilgol, Bhattacharya etd. and Javadpour et al., this paper is to contribute further to the literature of axial flow in a rotational coaxial rheometer. We consider axial flow of Herschel Bulkley mode1 between two concentric cylinders with the inner one rotating, while the outer cylinder is held stationary. An attempt has been made to direct the...

MHD Flow of Blood through Radially Non-symmetric Stenosed Artery: a Hershcel-Bulkley Model (RESEARCH NOTE)

The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model for studying the magnetic field effect on blood flow through an axially non-symmetric but radially symmetric atherosclerotic artery. Herschel-Bulkley equation has been taken to represent the non-Newtonian character of blood. The response of magnetic field, stenosis height, shape parameter on velocity, volumetric flow rate in stenotic ...

Biorheological Model on Flow of Herschel-Bulkley Fluid through a Tapered Arterial Stenosis with Dilatation

An analysis of blood flow through a tapered artery with stenosis and dilatation has been carried out where the blood is treated as incompressible Herschel-Bulkley fluid. A comparison between numerical values and analytical values of pressure gradient at the midpoint of stenotic region shows that the analytical expression for pressure gradient works well for the values of yield stress till 2.4. ...
